History

The Cobram Tennis Club was formed on 11th November 1898, with Dr. J. Kennedy as president.

In 1914 there were two earthen courts opposite Dr. Kennedy’s in Broadway Street. By 1918 the courts numbered eight and were situated on the railway reserve about where the Civic Centre now stands.

In 1928 the courts were relocated to the Recreation Reserve which is now named Scott Oval. 10 grass
courts were opened on the 12th October.

In 1947 the tennis courts were moved to their present Williams Street site. They were opened with the Tennis
and Bowls Clubs combining to build a pavilion standing across their common boundary.

In 1948 a large crowd attended the tennis courts to watch Australian champion players Harry and Nell Hopman, Nancye Bolton and Colin Long in action.

In 1991 the present clubrooms were established.
